Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || East Knox 2020: Meggan

A few years ago her sister had portraits done but now it’s Meggan’s turn! Meggan’s outfits are stunning and so Fall! I really loved how easy going and natural Meggan was in front of the camera. I enjoyed getting to hear about her plans for after high school and how much she enjoyed homecoming.

Thanks for stepping in front of my camera Meggan! I’m so happy I got to see you again!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || KCCC 2020: Taylyn

You’d never know it, but when Taylyn arrived to her session, her words were ‘I’m just here.’ and she was unsure of what her senior portrait experience was going to be. About 15 minutes into the session, Taylyn was giggling and started to show her true self. After a few more minutes, I asked Taylyn to ‘freestyle’ it for a minute and that’s when I called her a liar. (In the best way!) She was not just there. She was KILLING the poses and she was starting to enjoy what I wanted her and every human being who steps in front of my camera to experience: A moment where they can be their truest self.

By the end of the session, Taylyn had been goofy, sarcastic, laughed hard and loud…. She flipped her hair and walked with confidence and sass. She didn’t water herself down or guard herself. I think what was more enjoyable than watching Taylyn be herself was watching her mother literally GLOW with a huge smile on her face because her daughter was having a good time. That was the best!

I get to hang out with Taylyn again in a few months and I can’t wait to catch up with her on life and meet her cow! Until then, we have these images to love on.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || Mount Vernon 2020: Kimberly

The third and youngest of the Trapp ladies have stepped in front of my camera. It’s not Kimberly’s turn to celebrate her senior year. She has worked tirelessly and committed tons of her time to soccer. I really loved getting to know her and listen to all the things she’s looking forward to in the coming year and beyond.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || Danville 2020: Vivian

Vivian is living her best life! She has a full schedule these days and has been traveling too! Vivian was recently apart of local theater production, The Wizard of Oz and has also been spending the summer scouting colleges! She shared with me how much she enjoys a moment instead of a place. I thought that was so wise. She further explained that she enjoys a place because of the people and moments created there instead of just the place. I felt that was SO soulful and mature.

In her downtime, she loves to do her nails and GIRL CAN DO SOME NICE NAILS! She’s so talented, sweet and was so fun to work with! I’m wishing Vivian the BEST senior year ever! <3

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || Alice in ONEderland!

Alice is one! Her parents LOVED the idea of playing on the idea of Alice in Wonderland for her first birthday portraits. I thought it was a brilliant idea. Alice’s parents brought tons of props to use and I loved the Mad Hatter’s hat! SO SO GOOD! I love this session and the ideas parents bring to the table to create!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Photographer || OSU: Krissy + Sara's BFF Session

Krissy and Sara met at OSU. Being through milestones, birthdays, break ups, hard times, and the best of times… it was time to celebrate their friendship with a session. We included all the things from sunglasses to selfies, and even the iconic Buckeye donuts!

I loved this session. It was very natural and I even felt a little out of place at times because Krissy and Sara were so themselves and that’s everything that I wanted for these images. I just wanted to capture them together without any staging. I wanted the silliness, laughs, and happiness that is everything that their friendship is.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photographer || Kaitlyn

“Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gizmos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn’t make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel.”
– Peter Adams

In this day and age, everyone has a camera in reach. We all know that. What isn’t in reach is the creativity, drive, stamina, and patience that come with the job. (And that’s just the short list!) Just like not everyone could be a nurse, not everyone can be a professional portrait photographer. I admit, my job gets hard. Brides and babies alike cry when they are upset and it’s you’re your job to do everything in your power to make it better. Newborn photography is like hot yoga but in that 85 degree room you’re holding a new soul and a $8000 piece of equipment. It’s not that I just hold a camera, but that I keep everyone feeling good and make them look their best in a creative way.

Kaitlyn is apart of a story that highlights one of the most raw and significant parts of my career that will never leave my mind. Kaitlyn is little sister to Harper. Harper is not just a toddler, but a twin. I was at the hospital on the day of her birth. I was bringing food to a pregnant friend of mine and this family asked me to photograph the urgent event at hand: Harper and her twin, Julie born at 23 weeks. Their chance of survival was a very touchy percentage. Julie passed in the arms of her mother and I photographed her fighting for every second of her life. Silently, I felt so much weight of what I had photographed on their birthdays. It’s something I did not share or spoke with many about because it was such a private and intimate moment where I saw their entire family at their most vulnerable. It may have been the most defining moment that held the meaning of my entire career.

Harper spent months in the NICU and is a very happy and loving little girl. Kaitlyn has now joined their clan. Kaitlyn is the rainbow baby that follows her angel sister, Julie. I wanted to represent her as Spring (since that is her birth season!) because she is new, a fresh growth that brings a new chapter. Also, like her mom requested, putting rainbow tones in things. Kaitlyn was a wonderful baby! You’ll see she gave me a smile and loved clinging to her sister, Harper’s, octopus lovey that is regularly used for preemies who find comfort in holding their cords! (Fun fact!) I know her family is going to enjoy her and I am so happy for their new addition.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || The Galco Family

Guess who’s back?! The Galco family! It’s been a while since their wedding but we made some time to update their family portraits. They are such a precious family. Their little one was LOVING posing for the camera and being all silly. I’m so happy the sun was shining for this session. We had rescheduled several times because EVERY time we set a date last year, there was a severe storm. But it finally happened and I think these really showcase their love for each other.
