Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || RC + Family

Little RC was having a BLAST at his session! I always love watching little ones explore new areas they may not have been to in a while. RC loved finding sticks, leaves and berries. He also loved spending time with his family. He loves his mama, Becca, like no other. I think, as a mother, these images embody some of the most special times that a little one can experience in their first years. I loved capturing the laughs, cuddles, and walks that happened during this session.

Thank you so much to this family for letting me capture these moments. I loved documenting this time in your life.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || Centerburg 2019: Andrea

One of my favorite things about senior photography is getting to understand each senior, then to cater the photography around the senior to properly reflect them and a person. Andrea wasn’t super excited about getting her senior portraits done, at first. But surely, making jokes about myself had her cracking smiles and enjoying her session. Sorry Andrea, you lost but in the best way possible <3 I loved getting to meet Andrea and her family, learning about what she is looking forward to in her future as she soon graduates and starts her new journey in college!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Senior Photographer || Mount Vernon 2019: Corrick

Corrick has DAYS until he is a high school graduate! I’ve known Corrick for a few years now through various family sessions I’ve gotten to do for his family. To see that he is a senior makes me feel like time has passed too quickly but I’m sure for Corrick, it needs to move faster with graduation just in reach!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || The Kieber Family Is Expecting!

I can not believe the years that have gone by with this family. I remember each session of theirs. From dating, engagement, anniversaries, maternity, newborn and now expecting their second child, it’s just the GREATEST honor. I love these sessions because each time I see them, I get to hear all the new and fun changes in their life! Little DJ has gotten so big!

In a few weeks I will be meeting their son who I know is going to be just as adorable as DJ! I can’t wait to see them all together at their newborn session!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || The Galco Family

Guess who’s back?! The Galco family! It’s been a while since their wedding but we made some time to update their family portraits. They are such a precious family. Their little one was LOVING posing for the camera and being all silly. I’m so happy the sun was shining for this session. We had rescheduled several times because EVERY time we set a date last year, there was a severe storm. But it finally happened and I think these really showcase their love for each other.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer || The McIntire Family

I LOVED getting to meet the McIntire family for the first time! What sweet and wonderful people! They had a family session with a cake smash session added on to celebrate their son’s first birthday. We were blessed with a beautiful day to do outdoors family photos and headed back to the studio to do the cake smash, dino style!

I typically don’t allow my children to be at sessions because I want my focus to be completely and totally on my clients. They deserve that. But when we got to the studio, their oldest son wanted to play so my son, Leo, and their son became quick friends while mom, little brother and I were in the studio for the cake smash. We ended the session with the boys begging for more play time together. It ended up being a very fun time for everyone and I am so blessed to have met this family!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Portrait Photographer || The Ladies of LIFT [The Loft]

Friends, meet Ramey, Hayden and Morgann. Three brilliant, strong, resilient boss ladies who are, in my opinion, some of the most educated and talented hair and make up artists there are in central Ohio. If you don’t know them, you should. They have a loft in the Columbus, Ohio / Polaris Mall area but also service clients for hair and make up on location.

I met Ramey through one of my clients. I was on the journey for a hair stylist who could battle my red tint to my hair when I wanted it lightened and I could really get along with. I invest a lot in my hair and it’s one of my ‘self care’ treats when I get my hair done. When I go to a stylist, I need to feel cared for. No, not babied. I just need a friend who I can talk to and get along with in addition to trusting with my hair! Ramey was that person. We instantly clicked and later on I met Morgann (and Layken!) and then Hayden. These ladies are so passionate. They truly care. They believe in honesty, inner and outer beauty and truly truly care for each person they serve. They are very much like me but in the cosmetology field.

I am thankful to have these ladies in my life. I’m even more thankful they entrusted me with these portraits. I know and love a lot of people in the beauty field yet they are the very first ones to ask me to photograph their salon/team for them. It really means a lot to me and is a check off my bucket list! I know these ladies have some really amazing additions and ventures coming to their business. They are smart and I know they have tons of room to grow even from where they are now! I’m lucky to know them <3

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Photographer || Mount Vernon's Ariel - Foundation Park 4th of July Fireworks

Ah, the day after the 4th of July... nothing like feeling exhausted, possibly hung over and dreading going back to work. But, you have to admit, yesterday was worth it. The food, drinks, time with family and friends. It just wouldn't be summer without the 4th of July.

There are very few times a year when you get to sit back at watch professional fireworks. For me, growing up near Cincinnati, you had the 4th of July and then the WEBN fireworks. Each year, my mother reminds me of the year 1991. She sat, in labor watching Dayton's 4th of July fireworks out her hospital room window. From that year on, my dad would convince me that they shot the fireworks off for me. They were celebrating my birthday. When I was about 10 I finally came to the hard realization that they were not for me. But it is a nice addition to my birthday each year that many others don't have.

Point being, a large part of my life and memories have been built around fireworks and patriotism. When I finally learned how to photograph fireworks a few years ago, I have made it a priority to photograph them each year as a little birthday present to myself.

So after one phone call to the director of Ariel-Foundation Park, several drive-bys of the park days before to scout out the PERFECT spot to sit and photograph these fireworks and waking up at 8:30 am on the 4th of July to claim said perfect spot, the best part was when my mom watched the results of the photographs on the back of my camera and said 'I really want a print of one of these in my office.'

Maybe in some small way, I've made up for that one 4th of July 26 years ago where she had to watch them out the hospital window while in labor with me.

Either way, I hope that these photographs bring joy to those who want to relive and reminisce on the amazing pyrotechnic display that so many hard working men and women put together.
