Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Kelly + Josh

Kelly and Josh traveled from southern Ohio to meet up with me in Columbus to capture their engagement pictures! I was also fortunate to meet their rescue pup, Rudy! He's such a sweet and well-behaved dog who thoroughly enjoyed being in mom and dad's pictures!

You'll see Kelly, Josh and Rudy again next year when I photograph their wedding day! I'm very much looking forward to continually working with them as their wedding day approuches!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Newlyweds: Kim + Larry

A local photographer named Sarah messaged me, she explained that Kim and Larry were getting married at New Life (their church) and needed a photographer as she was unavailable. After speaking with Kim, I found I wouldn't be available for their wedding but I offered some portraits we could do in the days afterward. Kim was thrilled. She didn't want extra stress on her wedding day and we set up this session.

What an absolute joy Kim and Larry are! Their happiness with one another just radiates and I was loving photographing them together. I loved that they got dresses up again to be sure this beautiful time in their lives is captured.

While at their session, they shared with me how they met at church and once they became engaged, both their families and their church families put together a beautiful and wonderful wedding for them. What a wonderful support they have!

Kim and Larry, thank you so much for spending time with me. Thank you for allowing me to meet you and learn about your story. You are inspiring.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Gen + David

This was Gen and David's first time visiting Mount Vernon! I was so happy they got to experience one of the most beautiful places I know in the area. Gen and David are very much looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. I loved getting to hear about their prep for wedding day and their plans for after their wedding!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Jenn + Jordan

These two are the sweetest! I loved getting to know them a little better during their engagement session at Dawes! They told me all about their passion for teaching and looking foward to their honeymoon. You can tell how much they love being around one another. I am very much looking forward to their wedding day!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Inniswood Engagement: Tiffanee + Victor

Eeeeek! I'm so excited to post the preview of this session. I would just like to say who absolutely cute these two are together. It makes it even more awesome that their outfits are PERFECTION too!

At the beginning of the session we were talking about areas that would work best with their outfits, exploring props and any poses and then Tiffanee and Victor showed me the taco set up they had and I was more excited that I should have been about it. It is hilarious and deliciously wonderful.

Tiffanee and Victor, thank you so much for letting me photograph your beautiful selves, telling me your love story, and spending time with me.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Buckeye Lake Engagement Session: Courtney + Ryan

Their session had already been rained out once but the threat of thunderstorms happened yet again. Luckily, Courtney and Ryan were available earlier that our scheduled time and we missed the rain by mere seconds!

Courtney and Ryan are two nurses, in love, and are looking forward to their wedding out-of-state in July! This engagement session was so fun! Courtney is such a total sweetheart and shared her vision of her wedding day with me. She is so excited to marry Ryan, it was awesome to watch her light up as she spoke about their relationship and plans.

These two are incredible together and I very much enjoyed meeting them both. I hope to get to photograph them again in the future. <3

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Cincinnati Engagement: Elise + Joe

I absolutely adored visiting Cincinnati's Ault Park and getting to photograph Elise and Joe's engagement session featuring their precious dogs. It was the most perfect day. The park was filled with color and I got to learn more about Elise and Joe before their wedding day!

And their dogs! Gah! Their dogs are so sweet and cute! I think they are such a cute family. <3

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Jesse + Todd

Jesse and Todd met up with me here in Mount Vernon for some engagement portraits! It was great getting to know them a little better too! Jesse even told me that wedding planning is almost done! I love how their outfits for the session went so well with the location. I'm looking forward to working with these two on their wedding day and capturing all the fun moments that will happen!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Matt + Alyssa

I was so happy to meet Matt and Alyssa! Ohio has had some very rainy, cloudy days but I LOVE how it looked for their session and this location. Matt and Alyssa described themselves as easy going and they totally are! They filled their session with so many laughs and talking small talk. I love when it's like I'm not even there to photograph them. They were totally themselves and I enjoyed getting to capture that!

Getting an update on their wedding planning, they are doing great! Hearing all the details about their big day makes me so excited! I can't wait to see it all come together!!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || A Session Turned Surprise Proposal!

So when I was about 14, my little brother joined boy scouts. He made friends with a few kids and then somehow all our families got involved in boy scouts and that is when I met Jeremy, the kid on the left.

No, he isn't that little anymore. He's actually a grown man now and a member of the military (So the picture is totally fitting!) Jeremy, his sisters, my siblings and I basically all grew up together. So along with growing up with Jeremy, I met his girlfriend, Jessyca, in 2014! She became my intern through the local career center and for 9 weeks she brought me cookies and we made fun of my husband, Jonathan. It was a good time! haha

After Jessyca graduated, she went on to pursue an education for a career in criminal justice and Jeremy continued to go through schooling in the military and serve our country. Their relationship has been through more than most young couple's experience. It was inspirational to see them deal with everything life threw at them and see them fight through it and become closer and closer over time.

So Jeremy texted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would photograph him and Jessyca. I said 'Of course!'. Then the next text was 'Because I have a ring for her.' and then I thought I died right in my office chair.

'OMG, is he asking me to photograph this proposal?! Is this real life?! Like, FOR SURE happening?!' and sure enough, it was. The entire time Jeremy and I were talking out the details, I thought, "Jess would totally kill me if she knew I knew about all this right now." Because they had been together for four years now and she so badly wants to be his wife. And it was about to happen. And my heart was so full and happy for her.

So today was rainy but we, come hell or high water... literally, were getting these two engaged TODAY. Jeremy came by the house and dropped off the ring for Jonathan (My husband) to keep in his pocket until the moment was right during the session. Jeremy wanted to try his absolute best to keep Jessyca totally unsuspecting.  He then left to get ready to pick Jessyca up and meet us at the session. It would be the last few hours Jessyca was his girlfriend.

They showed up and in true Jess style, she came up to us and gave us her famous and oh so amazing, home made, chocolate chip cookies that Jonathan would always steal and eat them all before I could have one. Did we mention how much we love Jess? She remembered after all this time.

We began the session and this is how it went:

And that's just how fast a couple's session turns into an engagement session. <3  It was perfect. It was everything. Jessyca was over the moon and so blown away by her beautiful ring and Jeremy was so happy to finally ask Jessyca to be his wife. There were so many hugs and kisses... it was beyond adorable.

Jeremy did something so much more for Jessyca than just buying her a gorgeous ring. He asked for the moment to be photographed. Their family, friends, future children and grandchildren will one day ask how it all happened and while they will be able to sit together and tell the story, they will also have the photographs to show their story.

Congratulations Jeremy and Jessyca. It is beyond what any words could express how happy I am for the two of you. Thank you for letting Jonathan and I be a part of this moment. We love you both and are excited to see what the future brings for you both.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Stephanie + Jonathan

These two showed up from Cleveland with all of their absolute adorable-ness and matching peacoats to get engagement pictures done on what I believe may have been our coldest day of the year... (but I'll say that about any cold day...)

What's really super awesome is that in May, Jonathan and Stephanie were just two guests at Becky and Stephen's wedding watching me photograph that AMAZING day and now they are in front of my camera! We get to go through this awesome photographic journey from engaged to married and I couldn't be happier to get to capture it all.

Even though the wind chill was -8 (Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Yes, they still look that amazing. No, I know, I couldn't pull it off even half as well as they did either.) I am so extremely excited to photograph Stephanie and Jonathan on their wedding day next year.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Megan + Evan

With coffee from the Happy Bean Cafe used as handwarmers, Megan and Evan explored the downtown Mount Vernon area with me. While we walked from store to store, I learned a little more about them. They are counting down until the brisk winter air fades away and they get to board a plane next summer to travel to their destination wedding on a sandy beach by the ocean.

It won't be too long until I see Megan and Evan again, I will have the great honor of photographing Megan's sister's wedding day next week! I'm sure their parents are overjoyed with the happy nuptials happening in the future!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Channing + Ed

Can you believe this location is their home?! Some of the views are favorites of Channing's and the truck in the pictures? Well it was used in their proposal! Channing and Ed have a happy life on their BEAUTIFUL farm with their sweet and loving animals.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Emily + Justin

Emily and Justin's love seems so effortless. They are such beautiful and happy people. I visited Justin's farm where we photographed this session and WOW, it was just a stunning place. On top of the beautiful location, this session may be one of my top favorites because of something that I want everyone to learn when being photographed: BE YOURSELF. Be authentic. Enjoy a time for the lens to focus on the most beautiful parts of your life and allow yourself to celebrate that. Let me capture it. That is exactly what Emily and Justin did and it was mavelous.
