Columbus, Ohio / Dublin, Ohio Wedding + Engagement Photographer || Megan & Nick's Snowy Couple Session

While they aren’t engaged, Megan and Nick joined me for some snowy portraits and these two were awesome to photograph. I really enjoyed getting to meet them and photograph them. Despite it being cold, they were having fun and took every opportunity to cuddle up to each other! I think these snowy portraits among the pine trees are so cute and definitely showcase an Ohio winter. I love that Fatima did Megan’s make up giving her an extra pop of pink to her eyes and she was just GLOWING! Fatima is amazing to work with! ENV's Year In Review: Favorite Family Moments

To start this little series, I wanted to review some of the untold stories behind some photographs you may or may not have seen that I photographed this year. Yes, while my job entails posting and sharing the most beautiful photos on social media, some images have a deeper story. They may look like one thing but they have so much to it that means so much more to my clients. I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into a deeper look of the stories I’ve captured in 2021.

Little Women

These little ladies just adore each other. During their session, these sisters and I struck a deal: If they did great the entire session, they could have some photos of their own poses. At the end, they held up their end of the bargain and asked to stand with their backs to me to take a photo. I positioned them with these clouds and asked them to hold hands. This is now one of my most favorite photos of this year. Not really because of how it looks, but because of how these sisters love each other and getting their own special photo was so important to them.

Grandpa Says

When I photograph dads and grandpas, they typically aren’t the most enthused to have their pictures taken. (Now not all, but enough to notice the trend!) But this grandpa was happy to be getting pictures with his grandbabies. He and his grandson were sitting on this rock and as we were about to end the session, he asked to have their picture taken here. Grandpa might have thought he was asking for a photo for himself but his grandson will have this image to look back on. As the decades pass, this image will become more and more valuable to this family.

Adventures With Piglet

This little man was a little timid at the start of the session. When he arrived, he had this sweet, well loved little piglet in his arms. There is something so beautiful about little ones with stuffed ‘friends’ that make them feel safe. As the session went along, Piglet gave this little guy the courage to adventure on this fallen tree. In situations like this, where kids show up shy and leave adventurous, I feel so lucky to have watched them grow in just one hour’s time.

The Tooley Bunch

As we were walking to our cars, the kids wanted a picture. They are such a funny bunch, they wanted this shot of them popping out from behind the tree. I immediately got Brady Bunch vibes and we came up with this! It’s so, absolutely them and so funny. They chose this as a canvas for their home as well. I always love capturing shots that may not be ‘viral’ to the world but to this family, it was everything to them!

Take A Moment

Taylor is a mother to three beautiful, smart, energetic boys. We, as mothers, know that getting everyone together for a family portrait session can be rough. Little ones are hard to keep clean and even though the boys and dad were playing in leaves, Taylor didn’t let it stress her out. She just snuggled into the sweet babe in her arms. I was supposed to be photographing the boys in the leaves but I turned around and photographed this. So let Taylor be your reminder to just enjoy your session and take in a few seconds to just love, authentically like you would cuddled on a couch at home, during your session. Let it shine through.

Be Yourself

It has become a tradition with the Hartman family to get crazy, silly, funny photos during parts of their sessions. I truly never know what to expect and I LOVE that. So as we were walking to a trail nearby, this scene happened. It was totally playful, silly, and no one was hurt. Everyone was playing along. At the end of this session, Mom gave me a ‘Thanks for always letting us be ourselves.’ and I have kept that with me since. That’s what I love to do for my clients!

ENV's Year in Review: (Some) Favorite Wedding Moments of 2021

What a year this has been for me, as I am sure you’ve felt the same way. Its funny how, as the cold sets in and the Christmas trees are constructed and then taken down how we always use this week as reflection. It’s a mile marker in life where we take out our pens, put them to paper and really look at our lives.

Luckily, I get to look at all the things I’ve done through the moments I have spent with you. As many of you know, I was on partial hiatus until September of this year. I didn’t know what to expect when I announced my return to full time but I just hoped that I would be able to continue what my heart has so deeply always wanted, just to be an artist.

So to celebrate YOU and this year for us, together, I wanted to share with you just SOME of my favorite wedding moments. I hope you smile at these shots and enjoy my recollection of these moments.

All the Effort

Dustin and his mom surprised everyone with a fun mother-son dance. While these are WILDLY popular, it was their effort that made it ABSOLUTELY memorable!

Venue: Weatherington Woods Wedding and Event Venue In Zanesville Ohio

Fit for a Princess Bride….

Liz & Joel’s wedding day was FULL of sweet, personal moments but if you didn’t experience the ceremony first hand, you MISSED OUT! Liz’s father officiated and made sure to include props along with quoting The Princess Bride. Everyone’s sides hurt by the end of the ceremony AND it was perfectly tailored to who Joel and Liz are as a couple. So so funny!

Work From Wedding?

Sean knew his team would be having a work meeting at a certain time and after his first look with his now wife, Darrah, he logged in to say hello to them. He introduced her to the team and no doubt wanted to show off their dapper looks! His team was so excited to get a glimpse into his wedding day! I loved hearing all their excitement!

Venue: Amelita Mirolo Barn in Upper Arlington Ohio

Crowd Pleaser

One of our favorite DJs, Tony at Hitman Entertainment, had the couple join in on a fun dance of just them, Sarah invited her grandma in to dance and then Grandma, Sarah and Chase got EVERYONE dancing, high fiving, and cheering on the bride and groom. I LIVE FOR fun moments like these. They are having the TIME of their lives.

Venue: Mohican Gardens Conservatory

A+ on the Assignment

This ring bearer was a little rockstar. He understood the assignment and did it with PERFECTION! You wouldn’t believe how hard I laughed when I turned to get Dustin’s expression of seeing his bride but was distracted by this little guy HAMMING IT UP for me to take a photo of him. (Don’t worry, I go the shot of Dustin too!)

Venue: Weatherington Woods in Zanesville Ohio

Final Pages

I adored this moment of Sarah and Chase. This was the last dance of the evening before they departed and they headed into tomorrow. This is a visual of the last pages of this ‘Wedding’ chapter in their lives. From the moment a couple gets engaged, through the planning, engagement session, bridal shower, and then the big day…. these are the final moments of being in that ‘wedding’ chapter before they moved into that ‘Mr & Mrs.’ chapter. Sometimes couples spend 2-3 years of their lives in this season and then it suddenly ends. This captures those final minutes in this chapter for them.

Venue: Mohican Gardens Conservatory

Sparks of a Different Kind

So instead of doing a sparkler send off, Liz & Joel made their sparklers an activity rather than an exit (which I LOVE!) Not only did choosing to have sparkler fun give guests a break from dancing, it gave me a moment to capture candids like this. It was so fun to watch even the eldest of adults to the youngest of children play so wild and free with the sparklers. Just magical.

Columbus, Ohio / Westerville, Ohio Wedding + Engagement Photographer || Le Reve Styled Shoot

Cringy image of me on my wedding day in 2010 and now I wish I would have had Le Reve Chateau!

I was so blessed to be invited to a bridal styled shoot by Hanna’s team at Le Reve Make Up & Hair to work with some amazing artists in our industry to bring to life this really beautiful vision!

Le Reve’s Chateau space is perfect for brides who need a space to get ready on their wedding day! The space is so spacious, bright, and really makes you feel good! I truly wish I would have had an option like this on my wedding day instead of my sitting on the floor in a youth group room at the church we got married at! For this styled shoot we used Le Reve’s Chateau located in Westerville, Ohio which also has amazing access to the pretty streets of Westerville that we used as well!

A few years ago, Hanna spoke about this space she wanted to create. I remember her speaking about how much she wanted to provide to not only her clients, but her team as well! She wanted a stunning place for people to feel good getting ready in! It fills my heart so full of joy to see her achieving all she sets her mind to!

Creatives will often put these shoots together by collaborating with each other to bring to life a certain vision. The flowers, hair, make up, dresses, venue, along with my photographs are all dreamed up and created by talented women in the Columbus area. It’s an honor to have gotten to photograph all the beautiful and hard work of the creatives mentioned below. I look forward to seeing their work more in the future!

Creatives who made this happen:
Host: Sophia & Hanna with Le Rêve Makeup & Hair
Venue: Le Rêve Chateau

Dresses: Gilded Social
Florals: Blooms By Jenna
Models: Natalie, Shelby, & Kasey

Columbus, Ohio / Westerville, Ohio Wedding & Engagement Photographer || Tory & Ben

I am absolutely in LOVE with this session. I just had so much fun with Tory and Ben as we captured so much of their love for each other. I mean, this session is just magical and I have not gotten sick of looking at it as I’ve been editing it! This waterfall can be really hard to navigate at time if there are unfavorable conditions like rain and ice. We were just so blessed to get to have really amazing conditions that kept us safe, made the waterfall look full, and the weather was still nice for the session!!!

I loved getting to meet Tory and Ben’s puppy too! She was such a cute part of this session. Her mom and dad love her so much that she undoubtedly HAD to be included. I love having dogs in sessions!

Tory and Ben, thank you so much for letting me capture this time in your lives. I loved photographing your engagement portraits and I hope you love them!

Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Joel + Liz's Fall Wedding Day

This wedding day was so full of emotion and smiles. I just could not wait to share it here on the blog! When it comes to my couples, I always wish for them a day like this. Every person in attendance at this wedding was fully willing to help Joel and Liz celebrate their love. It was incredible. So many helping hands, well wishers, huggers, and all other types of happy, loving people made this day possible for this couple.

Joel and Liz are fully present in their lives. You can see that every hug and every conversation meant so much to them. They appreciate every second of life and it’s truly is inspiring. I loved getting to watch Liz be escorted down the aisle by her brother as her dad waited with Joel at the alter. Liz’s dad married Joel and Liz and even included some props and dialogue from “The Princess Bride” that lead to SO MANY laughs.

The day was personal, tender, and genuine. I wish that for every couple. The photographs are proof that Joel and Liz are loved and I loved capturing that.

Upper Arlington, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer: Amelita Mirolo Barn - Seann & Darrah

You might remember these two from a while back when we got some amazing engagement portraits at 16 Bit and Bridge Park in Dublin! I loved getting to know them then and was eagerly awaiting their wedding day!

Sean and Darrah’s wedding was so beautiful because of all the love and emotions that filled the day. They were so focused on making the day full of meaningful moments that I just loved photographing all the smiles, happy tears, and more! Sean and Darrah are surrounded by a support system that people dream of. Their friends and family did nothing but love on them on their wedding day. It was just so wonderful to see!!!

I’m thankful I’ve gotten to get to know Sean and Darrah over this journey in their lives. It’s always a privilege to get to be apart of something so personal and special between two people!

Enjoy this preview of their wedding photos at Amelia Mirolo Barn in Upper Arlington. It’s a beautiful venue that I would suggest to anyone! If you’re interested in wedding photography with us, please me sure to contact us at envphotographyy.com/contact

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Lifepoint: Kayla + Tony

I keep hearing people say ‘Things don’t look like they used to…’ and in the wedding industry, I hear them keep saying, ‘Weddings aren’t going to be what they used to be….’

But they are completely wrong. COVID has drawn focus to the important things in life.

When it comes to this wedding day, I see exactly what I would expect to see and everything I would wish for a couple dedicating their life to one another. I see two people getting ready, reminiscing on their journey and how they got to this point… how they are so excited for today, but more excited for the next day, and the day after that, their future.

Kayla and Tony’s wedding day was full of love. It was calm. It was full of life, happy tears, loving words and Christ. It was perfection. It was a day focused on two people who are looking forward to forever… and I couldn’t have been more happy to capture these moments for them.

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Engagement Photographer || Lauren + Dylan

When I visited Lauren and Dylan, I was expecting fields. Yes, I was expecting barns…. I was even expecting cows. BUT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE PUPPY! Gah! Little Max is the sweetest boy. He was constantly laying at my feet and wanting the pets. I loved it! Lauren and Dylan have this sweet little family with their puppy and are planning their wedding! We now have engagement pictures checked off the list and now are looking forward to the big day!!! I can not wait!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photographer || Larkin

Little Larkin is a sweetie pie with a mind of her own! She loved giving me little squawks and facial expressions during her session. She has SUCH a personality! I also love her hair color. It’s beautiful!

Larkin’s mama wanted some moodier tones. We went with purple and grey and I love the result! Her mama also brought a special piece: a cardigan from when she was a baby! I thought it was such a sweet idea and it fit perfect on Larkin!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photographer || Little Gavin

I can not believe the journey I’ve taken with Gavin’s parents. We had a great time talking about our sessions together. Gavin’s parents hired me when I didn’t think I was ever going to be a good photographer. They contacted me and asked me to travel to Columbus to do a session semi-surrounding Jeni’s ice cream. I thought ‘Wow, they think I can handle this? Can I handle this?! Ok, I need to just NAIL this.’ So as time went on, I photographed their wedding and now their newborn son! AHH Such an emotional moment!

Gavin was the BEST little guy. I wanna just call this session ‘little boy blue’ because of all the blue tones, patterns and textures. I just love this so much. I took a risk and did something I usually NEVER do and I literally pulled EVERY mid to dark blue and tried to incorporate it. Very mono toned and I don’t regret it.
Gavin slept so well for his session but had so many facial expressions while he slept! He’s gonna have a fun personality!

A special thank you to Mohican Gardens for hosting us!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Worthington Hills Country Club: Mr + Mrs Molinar

While it was probably one of the hottest days of 2019 thus far, it was a really good one. Kerstin and Bleu married this weekend at a church that has long hosted her family followed by a beautiful reception at Worthington Hills Country Club! WIth their engagement session last year and their wedding this year, I’ve long waited this day for these two! I’m wishing them sunny days and lots of love on their honeymoon and every day there after!

Mount Vernon, Ohio / Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer || Irongate Equestrian Center: Alex + Paige

Alex and Paige are so sweet both individually and together. Their wedding day was not only their marriage, but the joining of a family with little William included. Jon and I loved getting to watch this couple enjoy their day. Their friends and family showered them will love and smiles. It was incredible to watch! If you don’t know them, you need to know their love for cats which just perfectly enough, Irongate’s resident cat decided to join us during some portraits which was just a bonus to a great day!

My favorite image out of all of these is when little William walked into my shot, not knowing what he was going to see happening in the stall. William quickly shielded his eyes, giving me the perfect shot and a good laugh!
